1.22.18. In celebration of my being back in New York, I've started rewatching Friends from episode 1. I packed tonight for sales meeting in Santa Barbara while cranking through episodes on my new projector setup. The projector is a bit gratuitous but why else would someone have tall ceilings if not to project on them?

1.21.18. For the first over 40 degree day since Christmas, I took a stroll down to Brooklyn Heights to see an apartment, go for a walk and coffee with Megan and Jess, and play real life Frogger with tourists on the Brooklyn Bridge. Legit saw a guy peddling his bike while not looking forward and a lady shoved him out of the way. It is savage on the bridge.

1.20.18. This was one of the most productive Saturdays that I've had in months. I felt like Ron Weasley after he took the liquid luck and was convinced that for once he was not a total waste of space. The day was capped off by a delicious dinner at Scampi (restaurant #4) and a cocktail at Left Bank.

1.19.18. There's this new app that takes your face and finds old timey oil paintings that look like you. The first match, Mary Magdalene seems like a very complimentary comparison, plus she is quite youthful and looks like she's got her A game going. The second suggestion, on the other hand, is WAY HARSH! She's like 80! Thanks for nothing, Google robots! Also, I slept 11 hours today because apparently January has been that kind of month.

1.17.18. The walk on the high line remains treacherous but peacefully snowy this week. One of the reasons I am happy to be back in New York is this daily walk to work. It's a chance for me to walk as far away from other pedestrians as possible so I can read the billboards and drink my twice-frozen coffee and text while walking in peace. Mmm... No people...

1.16.18. I DEED IT! Lucy has an obsession with shoes, and I'm happy to see that the fur-lined boots Cacky got her are usually in the mix. Anna says those shoes remind her of Coachella in the 1990s or something. They remind me of how I wore, without irony, Ugg boots and mini skirts to parties in college in the winter of 2003-2004.

1.14.18. If you've ever wondered why dogs get to miss out on the amazing customer experience that is Starbucks, FEAR NOT! There apparently is something called a Puppaccino which is made especially for them. It's healthy! It's delicious! It's cute! It's a boost of energy in the morning! It's a cup full of whipped cream! .......... Wait what?

1.13.18. Brian and I were super helpful to Patrick and Sally as they prepared for their annual wine party. We sat around and made jokes, shopped for snacks and clothing for ourselves, and purchased buckets as ice coolers despite the fact that "someone doesn't care for buckets". I mean, who wouldn't want us as houseguests?

1.10.18. When the international teams are visiting for meetings, and your sales meeting is two weeks away, and it's snowing outside so there's nothing to do, and you can't move past a square box on a slide titled "Clienteling" (a word that is not recognized by Google spellcheck because it does not exist even though your company uses it liberally), the animals get impatient.

1.9.18. The wonderful thing about snow in cities is the silence that follows fresh powder. I remember sitting in my college dorm room after a 10in January snowfall and hearing the muffled cotton-ball quiet of the city hiding under its new blanket. Here is my favorite street in New York, the tiny bend in the two block long Commerce Street. It looks like a movie set and inexplicably feels the need to host an overabundance of traffic signage.

1.8.18. I've decided that having a dog in the snow is currently my least favorite dog season in New York. These booties get drenched in black snow-sludge, they freeze while in use, they stay wet for days, and they make Jenny walk like she's on hot coals. On the plus side, they are quite dapper for knee-high socks and do bring out the brown in her eyes.

1.6.18. Just when I thought it wasn't possible for me to get nerdier, I ventured out to the Dark Side Pop-Up Bar with Adam and Natasha so I could dance to Weird Al Yankovic songs with a storm trooper. The pop-up experience was disappointingly lacking in performances, unless you consider a dude high-fiving you while holding a lightsaber to be entertainment.

1.5.18. Despite the sub-arctic temperatures and my increasingly depleted will to live, I have continued to walk the 35 minutes to work. Today my coffee froze (it was iced to begin with, so that's on me), my phone died after 5 minutes of use (thanks for nothing, Obama!), and Jenny had to be carried the last 2 minutes of our 7 minute walk to daycare because she preferred to succumb to hypothermia than to continue wearing her dog snow boots.

1.1.18. 9 years ago, I decided to create a blog that tracked every day of 2009. I hoped that by stopping to take one picture each day, I would be forced to search for something worth remembering and maybe days would seem less mundane. I love New Years resolutions, and I picked 2018 to be my second attempt at this daily feat. I struggled with the choice of using Blogger or Instagram (which was invented since 2009), but it felt wrong to abandon the old faithful Worst Case Scenario blog. In the last annual blog feat, I also tracked a goal to run 1,000 miles in the year. I am definitely not doing that again. This time, I'll attempt to eat at 100 new restaurants in New York City. I'm back in the city that never sleeps after spending two years in Seattle, and it only feels right to resolve to take advantage of my favorite part of this town: the food. And so - here we go!
New Years was spent at the new MGM Casino at the National Harbor, just outside of DC. Imagine driving down the Potomac river and thinking, Oh DC is so lovely and regal, and then you're tossed out of your Lyft and find yourself legitimately standing on the strip. The only word I can use is random. The restaurants boast Top Chefs and are located in a hallway that can only be described as The Jetsons Opened a Miniature Mall of America. The people run the gamut from glitter mini skirt holding a G&T to Hawaiian shirt grandpa on hour 4 at the penny slots. We ate cheese in foam form on wilted greens, and we had well vodka while playing Blackjack. Didi certainly served up a memorable NYE!
