9.8.18. K booked a last minute trip to visit NYC, B decided to drive up, V booked tickets to some crazy Instagram warehouse called Candytopia, and we spent 24 hours acting like we were in college again. Brunch at Market Table and caught up on B's life in DE, dinner at Bond Street with W and R, and dessert at Lafayette where D joined us. What a treat.

9.3.18. I made my way down to Charlottesville to spend some time with this little goober. S is motoring around, is terrified of Jenny but loves swimming, and is super sweet. We had dinner at Farmington, and R told the story about how Mom almost died from pneumonia when she was 3 years old. He started crying when he told it. I'd never known that Rock had fired her doctor because the doctor said there was nothing they could do to help her.

8.24.18. Chicago for Kevin's memorial golf tourney! C got me tickets to the Cubs game with the Google team, then we did a rolling pub crawl through both pubish and quite nice restaurants while I wore a sweatshirt. Halfway through the evening I spilled on it. It was a great look. We met P at Monk's Pub for a beer (he left early to say goodnight to his new baby), went to KB's real estate agent's happy hour along the river, had snacks at a restaurant in the West Loop, and then ended up with S and L on the top floor of the Peninsula Hotel for a final drink and more food (again, I was in a sweatshirt this entire time). The soup was so insanely good - it was this spicy, curry, brothy soup. I would eat that for every meal if I could, and it wouldn't even be that bad for me! Anyway, great day with old friends.

8.20.18. Reason #435 why I need a boyfriend. I cannot bring myself to exterminate cockroaches. B kindly came over to take care of this lively little effer, which I trapped under a glass and then again under a trash can (Winks kept on trying to get to him). They can live for 2 weeks under there without food or water. How are they not robots.

8.11.18. I went for a long run along the cliffs in Ballard and decided to leave C&C alone for a bit while I did a rolling brewery day with D, F, H, and the M's. F, H, and I ended up at Senor Moose, the Mexican place a few blocks away from the furnished murder den apartment that I lived in during the summer of 2015 when I hadn't closed on my apartment yet.

8.9.18. C and I had a great day. We went for a run around Discovery Park just like the first run we went on together when I moved to the city. We then took the afternoon to do an intense spa experience. We got full body scrubs, a massage, we sat in salt rooms and charcoal rooms, we went in and out of bathing tubs of various temperatures. It was delightful. And afterwards, I made dinner on their roof of Salmon on the Grill, asparagus, portobello mushrooms, and grilled peaches with ice cream.

8.8.18. I miss Jenny! Thought she seems to be having an excellent time without me. I made my way over to C&C's for the night. C got in a bike accident last week and broke his hip, collar bone, and potentially tore his rotator cuff. We cancelled the grand hiking trip plans and instead met up with the old Wyoming crew for happy hour. I met J&B's new twin babies, caught up with M, and then headed back to stay at the C's. C can't even move... poor guy.

8.6.18. I went blond!! I made an appointment with my old hair dresser in Seattle, and we took a risk. I think it's so fun. I met up with I who was back in town for her last days in Seattle ever. We talked about life at L'Oreal (or what could ever exist after), and what it will be like for her to go back to Paris. Afterwards, I met C for a little FlyWheel followed by Red Cow. The burger hasn't changed (phew).

8.4.18. I went for an early morning run (early is contextual... I think it was almost noon) and explored the surrounding neighborhoods and inlets. There was a beautiful fog around the island, which I was able to capture at the end as it rolled in over the bay before burning off. It was another great day of music, ending in my favorite show: a Simon and Garfunkel singalong by Planes on Paper. I hadn't heard those songs in so long and was so moved by them. It happened in the treehouse, a cabin built up in a tree with a 2-story high balcony. I hope I remember that show for a long time!

8.3.18. Day 2 of Doe Bay Fest! I caught this act while walking between the field and the main property. They popped up and played a few folksy kind of tunes. I spent the day being somewhat anti-social, sometimes with the bigger group but also enjoying a good wander and solo music viewing. I explored the cliff campsites, found the tree house, and eventually poured myself a white wine after the effects of the prior night wore off. Favorite bands of the day were Kuinka and Parisalexa.

8.2.18. K and I flew into Orcas Island on Kenmore Air. We had a quick wine, hopped in a taxi, and landed at hippy heaven on earth: Doe Bay. We all set up tents on the ocean, snacked on pizza at a truck stand, and listened to some of the opening acts of the weekend. The evening ended with a campfire singalong that reminded me of the singalongs at camp growing up, except way more hippies.

8.1.18. I flew in on the early morning flight to Seattle, which feels both familiar and strange at the same time. It's only been a year, but it already feels like I dreamt my time there. I took the afternoon to meet up with F for a beer at Chuck's Hop Stop, and then we went back to his house to meet R. Afterwards, we had dinner at Mamnoon, attempted to go to Rock Box, and called an early night. I've missed this crew.

7.26.18. I met up with AP, a Harvard classmate who I didn't know in school but with whom CEO put me in touch. We had a drink in Soho and realized we have lived parallel lives - basically all the same friends but never met each other. My first new NYC 2.0 friend! We're getting dinner with TJones sometime soon, when he stops traveling the world and deciding if he wants to work again.
