Drove back from DC to volunteer at the Pig Roast. The Pig Roast itself was great, and included an opportunity for me to spray out a fire with a hose, but the best part was the 2 hours the volunteers spent afterwards. As a summer thunderstorm rolled through the valley, we were "trapped" under the picnic shelter and played flip cup/chased frogs/laughed at the questions game until the storm passed. Miles left: 657.25

Finally cleaned my apartment, enjoyed a delicious brunch with Cros, Mirms, and Bakes where we got this pic of the Mono Loco monkey drinking bloody marys, went to the pool, then had amazing ribs downtown with British, Murray, and Irish before hopping on the road for DC. Dad and I played the let's-try-and-see-Mom-on-C-Span game, and I was very surprised about how funny Obama is. As if I didn't have a big enough crush on him before.
Some great quotes from the pool:
C: My friend last night took a cab home from Manhattan to the Hamptons... it cost $400.
E: For that price, she should have bought an ounce of weed and walked.
JM: I'm one sixteenth Choctaw. I looked into claiming it as my heritage but it turns out they have a restriction that you can only claim you're native american if you are one fourth. Something about being possessive about the casinos.
I also got this gchat from Jen yesterday and nearly died:
Jennifer: also, i will say it again: i heart your blog
it is daily proof that white people have more fun than black people
not racism, just a statement of fact based on evidence
also i'm black so i can say that.
And for old time's sake, an email Bailey forwarded to me once when we were at Harvard:
From: "Joseph A. Scott"
Subject: question
To: "Bailey Spaulding"
Bailey,
I found out that you are a co captain on the equestrian team and I have an odd request. My house is looking into having a cow bingo game and therefore we need a cow. I was wondering if the stable you ride out of has any cows that we might be able to recruit for a day and if they do if you could give me some contact info.
Thanks a bunch,
Joe
